Kennedy Space Center, Fla. — In high bay 1 of the Vehicle Assembly Building, work is underway to repair the damage to Atlantis' external tank, seen here. Technicians will prepare the nose cone for future work. A severe thunderstorm with golf ball-sized hail caused visible divots in the giant tank's foam insulation and minor surface damage to about 26 heat shield tiles on the shuttle's left wing.
