About this work
Kennedy Space Center, Fla. — Lesser yellowlegs wade through a pond near Kennedy Space Center. The yellowleg is a smaller edition of the greater yellowleg, with a shorter bill. The species inhabits marshy ponds, lake and river shores, mud flats and, in the breeding season, boreal bogs. They range throughout Alaska and Canada, wintering from the southern United States throughout South America. KSC shares a boundary with the Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge, which surrounds it.
