Kennedy Space Center, Fla. — In the Vehicle Assembly Building at NASA's Kennedy Space Center, the external tank is lowered toward the solid rocket boosters on the mobile launcher platform below. Visible on the bottom is an orbiter aft attachment. After mating, the boosters-tank configuration will be used on space shuttle Atlantis for mission STS-122, which is targeted for launch on Dec. 6.
