KENNEDY SPACE CENTER, FLA. --In the Vehicle Assembly Building at NASA's Kennedy Space Center, the external tank is lowered toward the solid rocket boosters on the mobile launcher platform below. After mating, the boosters-tank configuration will be used on space shuttle Atlantis for mission STS-122, which is targeted for launch on Dec. 6.
