CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. – Racing to space atop a tower of flame, space shuttle Discovery lights the night sky at liftoff, all captured in the water near Launch Pad 39A at NASA's Kennedy Space Center in Florida. Liftoff from Launch Pad 39A on the STS-128 mission was on time at 11:59 p.m. EDT. The first launch attempt on Aug. 24 was postponed due to unfavorable weather conditions. The second attempt on Aug.
