CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. – The Shuttle Carrier Aircraft transporting space shuttle Discovery to its new home heads south toward Brevard County’s beach communities, offering residents the opportunity to see the shuttle before it leaves the Space Coast for the last time. The aircraft took off from the Shuttle Landing Facility at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida at 7 a.m. EDT.
