VANDENBERG AIR FORCE BASE, Calif. – Orbital Sciences’ L-1011 carrier aircraft, transporting Orbital’s Pegasus rocket and NASA’s Nuclear Spectroscopic Telescope Array, or NuSTAR, takes off from Vandenberg Air Force Base in California for the U.S. Army's Ronald Reagan Ballistic Missile Defense Test Site on Kwajalein Atoll, part of the Marshall Islands in the Pacific Ocean. In the background is Orbital Sciences’ processing facility where the Pegasus and NuSTAR were prepared for launch.
