CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. – A C-17 aircraft arrives at the Shuttle Landing Facility at NASA's Kennedy Space Center in Florida carrying the MAVEN spacecraft for processing ahead of a launch later this year on a United Launch Alliance Atlas V rocket. MAVEN, short for Mars Atmosphere and Volatile Evolution, will orbit Mars to study the Red Planet's upper atmosphere in unprecedented detail.
