CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. – Still in its shipping container, the MAVEN spacecraft awaits offload from a C-17 aircraft following its arrival at NASA's Kennedy Space Center in Florida. The aircraft is delivering MAVEN for processing ahead of a launch later this year on a United Launch Alliance Atlas V rocket. MAVEN, short for Mars Atmosphere and Volatile Evolution, will orbit Mars to study the Red Planet's upper atmosphere in unprecedented detail.
