SAN DIEGO, Calif. – On the third day of Underway Recovery Test 4A, the Orion boilerplate test vehicle floats in the Pacific Ocean near the USS Salvor, a safeguard-class rescue and salvage ship. Orion was lowered into the water with a stationary crane from the ship. Tether lines from the ship have been attached to Orion for a towing test. Nearby, Navy divers in Zodiac boats monitor Orion and practice recovery procedures. NASA, Lockheed Martin and the U.S.
