About this work
Aboard the USS San Diego, the ship's crane picks up a rigid hull inflatable boat to lower it to the water for use during Underway Recovery Test 5 in the Pacific Ocean off the coast of California. NASA's Ground Systems Development and Operations Program and the U.S. Navy are using the well deck of the USS San Diego, a test version of the Orion crew module, and several small watercraft to practice recovery techniques to prepare for recovery of Orion on its return from deep space missions.
