About this work

Kennedy Space Center, Fla. — On Pad 17A at Cape Canaveral Air Station, cables lift the Delta II rocket into position for launch. Scheduled for launch on Dec. 10, 1998, the rocket is carrying the Mars Climate Orbiter. The orbiter is heading for Mars where it will primarily support its companion Mars Polar Lander spacecraft, which is planned for launch on Jan. 3, 1999.
