Kennedy Space Center, Fla. — Wearing special protective suits, workers look over NASA’s Deep Space 1 spacecraft before prelaunch processing in the Payload Hazardous Servicing Facility at KSC. Targeted for launch on a Boeing Delta 7326 rocket on Oct. 15, 1998, the first flight in NASA’s New Millennium Program is designed to validate 12 new technologies for scientific space missions of the next century.
