Kennedy Space Center, Fla. — In the Space Station Processing Facility, the Shuttle Radar Topography Mission (SRTM) is lifted for its move to a payload bay canister on the floor. The canister will then be moved to the Orbiter Processing Facility and placed in the bay of the orbiter Endeavour. The SRTM consists of a specially modified radar system that will gather data for the most accurate and complete topographic map of the Earth's surface that has ever been assembled.
