About this work
At left is NASA's Perseverance Mars rover. The annotation shows where spacesuit materials can be found attached to a calibration target for SHERLOC (Scanning Habitable Environments with Raman & Luminescence for Organics and Chemicals), one of the rover's instruments. At right is a close-up of the calibration target. Scientists rely on calibration targets to fine-tune instrument settings using materials with known properties.
