ISS013-E-26488 (25 May 2006) --- Yates Oilfield, west Texas is featured in this image photographed by an Expedition 13 crewmember on the International Space Station. The Permian Basin of west Texas and southeastern New Mexico is one of the most productive petroleum provinces of North America. The Basin is a large depression in the Precambrian bedrock surface along the southern edge of the North American craton, or oldest bedrock core of the continent.
