About this work
ISS034-E-61717 (5 March 2013) --- One of the Expedition 34 crew members aboard the Earth-orbiting International Space Station captured this image of Belgrade, the capital city of the Republic of Serbia. Located at the confluence of the Danube and Sava Rivers, the Belgrade metropolitan area has a population of 1.65 million (2011 census information) which ranks it as one of the largest such areas in southeastern Europe. Human occupation of the Belgrade area can be traced back over 6000 years.
