Scott Carpenter, prime pilot for the Mercury-Atlas 7 (MA-7) mission, is assisted into the MA-7 spacecraft by techicians at Launch Pad 14, Cape Canaveral, Florida. MA-7 is the United States? second attempt in orbital flight around Earth. The spacecraft was designated the ?Aurora? 7.
