S62-06021 (20 Feb. 1962) --- A view of clouds over the Indian Ocean as photographed by astronaut John H. Glenn Jr. aboard the "Friendship 7" spacecraft during his Mercury Atlas 6 (MA-6) spaceflight on Feb. 20, 1962. The cloud panorama illustrates the visibility of different cloud types and weather patterns. Shadows produced by the rising sun aid in the determination of relative cloud heights.
