STS081-750-048 (12-22 Jan. 1997) --- This photograph, made with a handheld 70mm camera aimed through the Space Shuttle Atlantis' overhead windows, shows the entire city-state of Singapore with its urban, industrial and commercial land use areas. Singapore is located at the tip of the Malay peninsula separated by Johor strait. This prosperous island state, once Asia's major trade center, is now highly industrialized despite its small area.
