STS097-303-031 (30 Nov. - 11 Dec. 2000) --- This scene of Melbourne in Australia's state of Victoria was photographed with a 35mm camera by one of the STS-97 astronauts aboard the Space Shuttle Endeavour in December 2000. Downtown Melbourne (population 3.2 million people based on year 2000 estimate), is visible in this very detailed city view. Melbourne is the second largest city in Australia, capital city and major seaport in the state of Victoria.
