About this work
This is volume one of <i>The Spectator</i>, published by J. & R. Tonson and S. Draper around 1747. <i>The Spectator</i> was a two or three page paper written by Joseph Addison and Richard Steele that was published six-days a week publication from 1711-1712, and three times a week for six months in 1714. Eight bound volumes of <i>The Spectator</i> were published after the initial run, each volume containing about 200 daily editions.
