About this work
Charcoal sketch on paper of four American soldiers advancing down a street in Cierges, France. The soldiers are apparently coming through the village at the end of a recent battle, making sure that the village has been cleared of all enemy combatants. They have their rifles drawn with bayonet attached. The street is lined with badly damaged buildings in the background. Rubble from the bombed out buildings litters the street.
