Pencil sketch on paper, mounted. This work depicts Torcy during World War I. Shell craters are visible in the foreground of the composition along with torn and scatterd limbs from the line of trees in the midground. Damaged buildings add to the sense of devastation in the work and demonstrate the state of the French countryside durinig the conflict.
