About this work
This squat blown-glass jar has a wide mouth covered bya piece of leather and secured with at its neck with string. The shield-shaped label is outlined in brown. It is marked <i>SAChAR SATVRN</i> in alternating red and black letters. The jar contained Saccharum Saturni, sugar of lead which was prescribed as an astringent or anti-diaphoretic.
