About this work
This blue and white glazed syrup jar has a straight spout and an applied handle. A rolling landscape and the figures of a man and woman decorate the jar. The escrol in the center of the jar is marked <i>Syr d Ganatis</i> Below the scroll is an oval shield with a crown, with the initials <i>C A R</i> flanked by a feather and a leafy branch. The bottom of the foot is marked with an image of a lighthouse. Lighthouses were used to mark the wares of 17th and 18th century Genovese potters.
