About this work

This albarello marked <i>Ung. Scabia</i>, has a second paper label glued to the lower shoulder marked, <i>Ung. ad Scabia</i>. This jar would have contained an ointment for the treatment of Scabies, a scratchy contagious skin disease. George Urdang, co-author of <i>The Squibb Ancient Pharmacy Catalogue</i> attributes this jar to 18th century Savona.
