About this work

This syrup jar has a straight spout and an applied strap handle with blue and purple decorative motifs over a white glaze similar to 1991.0664.0643. The label in the center of the vessel is marked Mel Rosa Sem which would be a concoction of Rose seeds and honey. George Urdang, author of The Squibb ancient Pharmacy Catalogue attributes this jar to 18th century Venice.
