About this work
This small, wide-mouthed apothecary jar has a whitish tin glaze. A round blue shield in the center of the jar features a face at the top. The center of the shield reads “OL LAURI” in blue text. The jar would have contained oil of laurel, used as a remedy for a variety of skin conditions and as a salve for wounds.
