About this work

This is an early eighteenth century hand-held coin balance in a wooden box. It has a 5-inch iron beam, and 1.6-inch brass pans. The interior lid of the box has a paper label which lists the weights of gold and silver coins of various European countries. The box has recesses for a nested weight set and some fraction weights. The weights are missing.
