About this work
Ernst Philip Boas (1891-1955) was an American physician, pioneer in the fields of pathology and physiology, and expert in chronic heart diseases. In 1928 he and his colleagues developed the cardiotachometer, a widely used instrument for measuring the rapidity of heartbeat. This signal recorder was made by the Production Instrument Company in Chicago. Norman F. Boas, the donor, described it as “the original Cardiotachometer” developed by his father, in 1928.
