Pipe holder 'Chestnuts' with a gold-leather tobacco pouch
From the collection of Rijksmuseum, Amsterdam. Free to download, adapt and use — no permission needed.
About this work
This pipe case is made of woven rattan, the accompanying tobacco pouch of gilt leather, with a tiny crab as a press stud. The pipe case's long, narrow format often inspired unusual designs. A burst chestnut husk lies on the ground. The length of the pipe case suggests how far the chestnut fell.
