Cigarette box with imitation gilt leather

Long cigarette case with lid of black lacquer and imitation gold leather, decorated with stylised lion-dogs (shishi) and peonies in green, red and gold lacquer on a beige background in a continuous band over the lid and sides, the inside with red-spotted imitation leather. Case and lid with a silver rim, two silver dividers inside. Signed on the inside of the lid with a gold makie seal Yū. Wooden case with the inscription on the lid 'kinkarakawa botan karakusa maki tabako bako' ('cigarette case with gold leather and peony-vines'), on the inside the signature 'Heian makie-shi Yūkichi' ('makie master Yūkichi from Heian [Kyoto]') and seal Yū.
