About this work
Padmapani (‘the lotus bearer’) is a form of the bodhisattva Avalokiteshvara. Now gone, the lotus was probably held in his left hand. Avalokiteshvara is one of the most popular bodhisattvas, revered by Buddhists for his infinite compassion and assistance in times of need.
