About this work
Two libation beakers (jue). China. Late Shang period (1300 - 1050 BC). Bronze. The jue was used to heat and pour wine in ceremonial libations. The handles were used for lifting the heated vessel with a pair of tongs. The spout is to facilitate pouring. Acquired with support of the Vereniging Rembrandt.
