About this work
Applique with two ibexes. China, Ordos region. Han dynasty (206 BC - 220 AD). Bronze. This applique originates from the Ordos region in northern China, bordering Mongolia. In this steppe region many small objects of gold and bronze were made: knives, daggers, belt hooks and appliques, decorated with animal motifs in the typical Ordos style. Especially the game hunted was a popular subject. On this applique stand two ibexes, surrounded by trees and foliage.
