About this work
Ornamental knives. This type of ornamental knife was worn exclusively by members of the aristocracy in the Kingdom of Kandy, located high in the interior of the island of Ceylon. The nobler the material from which it was made, the higher the rank of the nobleman who was allowed to wear it. No noble materials are used in this knife; it therefore belonged to a member of the lower nobility.
