About this work

Four-panel room screen of four side panels in a black lacquer frame, with an embroidered representation of the four seasons, from right to left: a rooster and hen under blooming plum branches; a pair of peacocks on a blooming wisteria branch; a pair of pheasants in flight near red-tinged maple branches; two male geese, a female goose in flight above snow-covered reeds, with a pair of mandarin ducks in the water. Signed with an embroidered seal on the left panel: 'Keishun'. Original wooden box (tomobako) with inscription: 'Embroidery of the four seasons by Kishimoto Keishun'; seal 'Keishun'.
