About this work
This small figure is represented in an active pose, with his right knee drawn up and right arm flung across his body. The moustache and broad dagger on his back are features of Mahakala, Shiva’s doorkeeper, but he could also be the spirit of the buffalo demon in human form. (Both figures are represented elsewhere in this gallery.)
