Mirrors

In China, the use of bronze mirrors dates back to the early Bronze Age, the second millennium BCE. They were made of an alloy of bronze and a high content of tin, which provides a silvery surface. Over time, the effects of corrosion lent them their distinctive green and blue colour. Here, we see the back of the mirrors, which were often decorated with elegant and elaborate patterns.
