About this work
Tea caddy. Japan, central Honshû, Seto. Second half of 15th, early 16th century. Stoneware, Seto ware.Tea was kept in caddies such as this. They contained exactly enough for one round of tea. The caddy was kept in a bag and revealed at an appropriate moment. Westendorp bequest.
