About this work

Bell-shaped porcelain cup, painted on the glaze in red, black, and gold. A medallion depicting a boy and a butterfly in a landscape; around the medallion eight petal-shaped compartments alternating between the boy in the landscape and a tree; between the compartments scrollwork; on the rim a band of reticulated work alternating with a flower in a cartouche. The cup has been broken. Encre de Chine.
