About this work

Bell-shaped porcelain bowl on three feet with an octagonal, lobed rim, painted in underglaze blue. In the bowl a hollow, round elevation, in which a loose porcelain figurine is placed. This figurine comes up when liquid is poured into the bowl, a so-called 'Jack in the cellar'. On this elevation a decorative band; the inner rim with a band with flower branches. The outside with painted leaf veins. Some chips in the rim. Blue-and-white.
