About this work

Baluster-shaped lidded jar of porcelain, painted in underglaze blue and on the glaze in blue, red, pink, green, yellow, black and gold. On the body a pheasant on a rock among flowering plants (peony, prunus) and a fence. In the air a second pheasant flies, along with butterflies and birds. On the ground other flowers (aster, lotus, gladiolus), mushrooms (lingzhi) and a pond with ducks. On the shoulder a decorative band of small flower rosettes with scrolling work and loose flowers above. Above the foot a band with stylized leaf motifs filled with garlands of lucky symbols (musical stone, coin, rhombus). On the neck a band with 'crackled ice' and prunus blossoms interrupted by lobed cartouches with a landscape in ence de Chine. The outer rim in Imari colors with a band of clouds on hatching interrupted by cartouches with lotus scrolls. Famille rose.
