About this work

Standard for candle or incense. Tripod with handle. China. 6th century. Glazed stoneware, Yue ware. This tripod and candle or incense standard form a pair. They served as grave gifts. The tripod is a small-scale model of a bronze skillet and was considerably cheaper than the large bronze variety. A lot of the early Chinese stoneware was produced in the Yue area.
