Men's haori with Yuya and the Kiyomizu temple

Haori for a man with a lining decoration depicting a rectangular panel featuring a Nō actor reading a letter, accompanied by text with cherry blossom leaves, set against a background of a temple building with blooming trees. The actor portrays Yuya, the mistress of Taira no Munemori, in the eponymous Nō play. Her mother sends her letters asking her to come before she dies, but Munemori prevents her from leaving until after the cherry blossom festival at Kiyomizu Temple. The text is a poem spoken by Yuya expressing her feelings and the transience of things: 'Hana mae ni cho mau funpun taru yuki. Yanagi ue ni hotaru tobu henpen taru kane. Hana wa ryusui [ni shitagatte kaori no kuru koto toshi]' ('Butterflies dance above the blossoms like swirling snow. Fireflies fly above the willow like pieces of gold. The scent of the blossoms, carried by the stream, arrives all too soon').
