About this work
During the Neolithic period in China, pottery already exhibited a high level of workmanship. This jug is from the Majiayao culture, specifically from the Banshan phase that flourished along the Yellow River between 3300-2000 BCE. Pottery from the Banshan phase is distinguished by its spiral and geometric patterns in black and red paint.
