About this work

Rectangular cotton cloth consisting of two panels sewn together widthwise (= warp direction) that are mirror images of each other. The colors are natural for the ikat motifs, brown-red for the ground of the ikat bands, and blue for the intermediate bands. Ikat motifs are applied to the cloth in horizontal bands running in the warp direction. From the bottom: a number of narrow ikat bands with a zigzag motif; then a broad plain blue band; a broad ikat band with a main motif (see drawing on map); then narrow ikat bands with zigzag motifs separated by broad blue bands with narrow light blue stripes.
