Hip cloth

Rectangular cotton cloth consisting of two halves sewn together widthwise that are mirror images of each other in motif. The colors are natural, rust-brown, blue, and dark blue-black. One long side has short fringes, the other longer fringes of warp threads. The motifs are applied to the cloth in horizontal bands running in the warp direction in natural on a rust-brown ground. From bottom to center (the seam): a narrow ikat band; a broad blue-black band; a broad ikat band with human and bird figures and star motifs with hooks; a number of narrow ikat bands with various geometric motifs (8-motif, spool motif, star motif, zigzag motif) and human and bird figures. These bands are alternated with narrow stripes in natural, blue-black, and blue on a rust-brown ground.
