About this work
Cabinet set of porcelain with three lidded jars and two beaker vases, painted in underglaze blue and on the glaze red, black and gold. On the wall three large cartouches with a shishi between a flowering peony plant; the cartouches are separated by bands of scrollwork with therein a lobed cartouche with a hoo-bird surrounded by floral scrolls. Furthermore a broad band with chrysanthemum scrolls interrupted by lobed cartouches with a shishi by a plant and a band with lotus scrolls. On the foot a band with scrollwork. The lids with the same decoration; lid knob in the form of a shishi (lion-dog) on a rock. Imari.
